Master Test Pattern (1024 x 768) September 16, 1998 This test provides an all-in-one pattern for checking and touching-up overall image and picture quality. It contains elements from many of the DisplayMate monitor setup screens. How to use the test pattern components: Large circle and outer frame: Use these to center and size the image. Crosshatch pattern: As with the crosshatch and dot test, use this to check overall linearity of the image and adjust any available linearity controls, such as pincushion. Corner circles and focus text: Use these to check on corner linearity and focus. Color bars: As with the color scales test, use these to check the appearance of the standard colors. Black and white bars on a gray background: Use these to check for streaking and ghosting in the image. Resolution line pattern: As with the horizontal resolution test, use these to check on sharpness and resolution. Points, circles, and dither patterns: Use these to check for defocusing, blooming, and halos. Gray and white text: Use these to check on the sharpness, contrast and visibility of text in both normal and reverse video.
